There is little doubt that McCraken, with early odds of 9-1 to win the 2017 Kentucky Derby, can be classified as an ideal mudder having won the Jockey Club Stakes back in the slop last November.

Of course, none of this matters if the conditions are expected to be dry for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.

So what’s the forecast?

It’s looking great for McCraken!

Rain showers in the morning will evolve into a more steady rain in the afternoon, according to long range forecasts.  Of course this could change come Saturday.

The last few years we’ve seen relatively high odds for rain on Derby Day.
