What the Line on Kentucky vs. Auburn Should Be

The Adjusted Efficiency for both teams arrives at a number of 9.5 with the Tigers having the advantage.  We then multiply that number by the addition of both teams Adjusted Tempo Possessions Per 40 Minutes, which totals 142.5.  We arrive at a number of 1353, which is then divided by 200.   This gives us a line of Auburn -6.76.  However, home court advantage is typically tacked on at 3.50, which results in a line of Tigers -10.  The actual line was coming in at Tigers -9 after opening at -8.5.  We can see some value in backing Auburn here.

The home court advantage can be adjusted based on a team's edge at home and the opponent's weakness on the road.  Tinkering with this number will usually result in a change no greater than a point.

Also it is important to understand that the Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings do not take into account any injuries or variables that might otherwise impact a game, at least not immediately.

Kentucky has much more significant injury concerns than the Tigers. Among those questionable for Saturday's game: Tre Mitchell.  He's averaging 12.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg and had three straight single-digit scoring games but left Tuesday's game against Ole Miss with a shoulder injury.

The oddsmakers do not list Mitchell player props versus Auburn.
