BetOnline was expected to release odds on who will be named the Seattle Seahawks next head coach as long time coach Pete Carroll left his position, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.  Reports suggest he may remain with the organization in another capacity.

BetOnline had been offering odds on the next NFL head coach to be fired or resign. Carroll paid 33-1 odds.

Mike Vrabel of the Tennessee Titans left the team since BetOnline last updated these odds.  Vrabel left after six seasons, a 54-45 record, four winning campaigns, three playoff appearances, 2-3 in postseason games and a trip to the AFC Championship Game during the 2019 season.  Odds on Vrabel leaving were not offered previously at BetOnline.

After 14 seasons, 10 playoff appearances and the franchise's lone Super Bowl championship, Carroll was expected to move into an advisory role, team owner Jody Allen announced Wednesday.

Allen said in a statement that the decision was made "after thoughtful meetings and careful consideration for the best interest of the franchise."

The news comes as a shock after Carroll said in his postgame news conference Sunday, and reiterated Monday in a radio interview, that he intended to return as coach for the 2024 season.

"I plan to be coaching this team," Carroll told Seattle Sports 710 AM. "I told you that I love these guys, and that's what I would like to be doing and see how far I can go. I'm not worn out. I'm not tired. I'm not any of that stuff. I need to do a better job and I need to help my coaches more and we need to do a better job of coaching, and there's a lot of area for improvement."

Oddsmakers at BetOnline realized the possibility existed but still listed Carroll at relatively long odds.

J.J. McCarthy Drafted Number 3 Odds to Patriots

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?
