Poker Maximus II – Day 1 Recap

The first day of Poker Maximus II was phenomenal as the “can’t miss online poker tournament series” of the fall got underway. There were three great events, all No-limit Hold’em Freezeout tournaments with various buy-ins. Here’s how they finished.  Learn More About Poker Maximus II Here

Event #1: $15,000 Guaranteed NLH Freezout – ($10+1 buy-in)

2334 players ended up taking a seat in this event, pushing the prize pool to $23,340. This 8.5 hour event was capped off by some great final table play by a very good field of nine finalists. The final hand was a typical “race” situation between IRunnLikePoop and eugene23. It was eugene23 who came out with a min-raise with (6d,6s) that was followed by another min-raise from his opponent with big slick off suit (As,Kd). Eugene23 decided to make a stand as the shorter stack and shoved all-in and not surprisingly was called. The flop was basically the nail in the coffin for eugene23 as it came 5s,4d,Kc with the pair of kings leading the way now. A turn and river of Jh and 8h respectively provided no help to the pocket 6’s and IRunnLikePoop finally ran a little better to claim the crown. He took home just under $3900 for his efforts. Here are the rest of the final table players and their payouts. Congrats to all.

1 IRunnLikePoop $3865.81; 2 eugene23                 $2870.83; 3 DoNkEyRiTz $2007.25; 4 metalman45 $1470.43; 5 DostoevskyBRAH $1073.65; 6 IPILEFACE $840.25; 7 Lluboski $560.17; 8 DustyBucket $396.79; 9 Born1nUSSR $280.09  Learn More About Poker Maximus II Here

Event #2: $60,000 Guranteed NLH Freezeout – ($200+15 buy-in)

This was the biggest buy-in event of the day and after the 421 players who decided to register sat down and got through the late-registration period the prize pool finished at $84,200. The top 54 finishers took home some form of prize money but it was LifeCooler who took home the big prize of $17,934.60. Here’s how he did it:

LifeCooler had played great all throughout the final table and by the time the final hand came around he only needed to call about 24,000 more chips on top of his 60,000 big blind. NotTomCoughlinsFace had little choice at this stage with his J,7 suited in clubs but it wasn’t good news when he saw he was up against K,Q off-suit. The board missed everyone (4d,9h,2h,4h,9d) and LifeCooler’s King-high was good enough for the win and 1st place. Here are the other payouts for the final table players.

1 LifeCooler $17934.60; 2 NotTomCoughlinsFace $12209.00; 3 DrMcBoogerballs $8209.50; 4 norfair18 $5894.00; 5 Crackerontilt $5052.00; 6 escotch244 $4210.00; 7 CreepShot $3368.00; 8 sickbrag $2526.00; 9 L3G3NDARY $1684.00

Event #3: $30,000 Guranateed NLH Freezeout – ($100+9 buy-in)

The final event of the day was a smaller version of Event #2 and because of that it had a few more entrants at 562. That made the final prize pool worth $56,200 and its 15 min deepstack structure attracted players that prefer that format. Learn More About Poker Maximus II Here

The blinds were relatively small compared to the stack sizes on the final hand as TheCorporation shoved all-in another 789,860 chips overtop of the 30,000 big blind mytruereligion posted. TheCorporation’s Qs,7c were in tough against the opponent’s As,Jd, but after a flop of Js,Ts,9s, there was a bit more hope. Obviously any spade would have sealed TheCorporation’s fate, but any 8, K or Q would flip the script. Unfortunately the turn and river came down 4d and 3c respectively, giving mytruereligion the title in Event #3. They took home a little over $11,000 for his hard work, while TheCorporation claimed just over $8100 for his 2nd place finish.

Final table results:

1 mytruereligion $11015.20; 2 TheCorporation $8104.04; 3 NOTATRADER $6069.60; 4 Countnn $4215.00; 5 jcinblue $2956.12; 6 1nfected $1854.60; 7 theVein $1236.40; 8 tanker1722 $1236.40; 9 ichasedraws $1236.40
