History is against the Detroit Lions as they prepare to welcome back their former long time quarterback Matthew Stafford and the LA Rams.  The Lions haven't won a playoff game since way back in 1957 and they come into this game as the -3 point favorite.  We get a number of nearly -5.

Detroit drafted Stafford out of Georgia No. 1 overall in 2009 after becoming the NFL’s first 0-16 team. Over 12 seasons with an 0-3 record in wild-card games, Stafford set franchise records with 45,109 yards passing and 282 TDs.

The Rams won the Super Bowl two seasons ago with Stafford at the helm and Lions fans were mostly happy to see his continued success.  Today they will be rooting against him.

"I understand what the people of Detroit, what the city of Detroit, meant to me in my time and my career. What they meant to my family. I hope they feel that back," Stafford said. "But at the same time I'm not a stranger to the situation and understanding I'm the bad guy coming to town."

The Rams (10-7) have won seven of their last eight games, with the lone loss coming in overtime to AFC top seed Baltimore.

Oddsmakers have posted a passing yards total of 276.5 Over/Under for Stafford.

The Rams traded Stafford for quarterback Jared Goff and thus far this has worked out splendidly for both teams.

LA drafted Goff No. 1 overall in 2016 and the former California star led them to Super Bowl 53 in his third season. They traded him along with a pair of first-round picks to Detroit for Stafford nearly three years ago.

Goff completed 23-of-32 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions’ 30-20, Week 18 win over the Vikings.  His passing yards total Over/Under for this game was listed at 261.5.

There are plenty of other player prop bets posted for this game including for Rams WRs Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua against Detroit’s defense. Kupp had 33 receptions in the 2021 playoffs, a record for one postseason, and Nucua set rookie records with 105 catches and 1,473 yards receiving this season.

Xavier Worthy = Tyreek Hill 2.0?  Perhaps, and if that comes to fruition at any point in the future, the Bills only have themselves to blame.

J.J. McCarthy Drafted Number 3 Odds to Patriots

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?
