Las Vegas Odds – 2012 Kentucky Derby: Online Books More Convenient, Better Odds

Las Vegas odds on the 2012 Kentucky Derby varied from sportsbook to sportsbook, but the odds are one could find better odds at one of several online racebooks, some of which have been around for well over 10 years and offer rebates (losses back) like Sportsbook.

Lucky’s Sportsbook Director Dan Shapiro will be rooting against Union Rags (the current favourite) and Creative Cause (with double digit odds).

“We’re going to be rooting against Union Rags for sure,” Shapiro told the Las Vegas Sun. “Back in October, we opened Union Rags and Creative Cause as co-favorites at 30-to-1. Here it is in early May and they are both in the race. Those two are going to be losers for us.”

Vegas casinos have fared well on the Kentucky Derby since 2009, according to the Sun.

“In general, the long shots have been good for us,” Shapiro said. “A lot of times, when the favorites are around all season — like Union Rags and Creative Cause — you build up exposure on them. It really depends, but this year, we’re going to be rooting for another long shot.”

Below were the overnight odds on the 2012 Kentucky Derby from Sportsbook.   Some of these odds are better than that offered up in Vegas so, if you happen to be in Sin City this weekend, you might want to check online first before placing that bet in person.  Vegas books don’t offer rebates by the way.
