Philippines fighter, Manny Pacquiao, has been listed as the favorite to win the 2009 ESPY Awards for "Best Fighter" at Sportsbook.com.  His odds were -300, requiring a $300 bet to win $100 (the $300 plus $100 is paid out should he win).

Lyoto Machida was the next favorite to win the 2009 ESPY for Best Fighter with odds that would pay out $250 for every $100 bet.  Machida is a Mixed Martial Arts fighter as is Anderson Silva, who came in with +600 odds.

Shane Mosley was the only other boxer listed and he would pay out $1000 for every $100 bet should he win the 2009 ESPY.

Pacquiao is the former WBC Lightweight world champion, WBC Super Featherweight world champion, IBF Super Bantamweight world champion, and WBC Flyweight world champion. He has also held the Ring Magazine titles for Featherweight, Super Featherweight, and Light Welterweight divisions. For his achievements, he became the first Filipino and Asian boxer to win five world titles in five different weight divisions. He is currently the IBO and Ring Magazine Light Welterweight champion and is rated by the Ring Magazine as the #1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
Begun in 1993, the event confers eponymous awards, fully styled as Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards, for individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance during the calendar year preceding a given ceremony.

From their inception until 2004, the awards were chosen variously through voting by fans; sportswriters, broadcasters, sports executives, and sportspersons, collectively experts; or ESPN personalities.
