Kiss an Alien, Then Place Your Area 51 Bets

The US Air Force on Wednesday warned against storming Area 51 as the Facebook event - dubbed "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us." -  reached 1.5 million attendees.

This warning comes as the oldest US-facing sportsbook, Bookmaker.eu, posts odds on Area 51.

"The United States Air Force is aware of the Facebook post," Air Force spokesperson Laura McAndrews told ABC News in a statement. "The Nevada Test and Training Range is an area where the Air Force tests and trains combat aircraft. As a matter of practice, we do not discuss specific security measures, but any attempt to illegally access military installations or military training areas is dangerous.”

Bitcoin Takes a Hit With US Lawmakers Challenging Facebook's Libra

Bitcoin prices tumbled below the $10,000-mark Wednesday alongside other cryptocurrencies as U.S. lawmakers cast doubts that they will give the nod to Facebook's own digital coin plans.

U.S. lawmakers grilled Facebook on its plans to introduce its own virtual currency, dubbed Libra, with David Marcus, the company's top executive overseeing the planned project, in Washington on Tuesday to answer questions from the Senate Banking Committee.

The social media behemoth is pressing to get Washington onside after shocking regulators and lawmakers with its June 18 announcement of its plans to introduce its own virtual currency next year.
