Cryptocurrencies is one of the hottest emerging industries right now with Bitcoin's price shooting through the roof and Elon Musk pushing Dogecoin. This is all window dressing, however, as the less sexy aspect of digital currencies might very well be where the real money is for those looking at careers in the sector.

Getting a Job in Cryptocurrencies

As for now, the crypto field is considered more of a trade, akin to taking courses in mechanics, your CDL for driving a commercial vehicle, maybe even something along the lines of cosmetology.  The focus is on obtaining a license or certificate.

It's interesting to note that some of the more prestigious universities are now offering courses in cryptocurrencies.  You won't find programs like "How to Trade Bitcoin" or "How to Avoid Stress Levels When the Price of Bitcoin Drops Every Other Day".  Instead, Princeton University offers a course in "Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Technologies" while Penn State offers "Cryptocurrency and Blockchain: An Introduction to Digital Currencies".

While it is certainly not our intention to discourage readers from attending any of these Ivy League schools, the chances of acceptance is not very good and each of these schools tend to be quite pricey.

Whatever path you opt for, those with the knowledge of cryptocurrencies along with a certificate or degree get first dibs at rewarding jobs in the industry.
