In May 2018 the U.S. Supreme Court paved the way for sports betting in all 50 states.  Offshore sportsbooks have always been accessible from the state of Michigan and will be offering hundreds of prop bets for this year's Super Bowl,  but will the state itself ever allow sportsbooks to operate in-state?

The short answer is YES.

In fact, lawmakers in both chambers had passed a bill that would have legalized sports betting in time for this year's Super Bowl.  The outgoing Governor vetoed that bill with little warning the last week of the 2018 session.

Good news for those looking to bet sports with companies based in-state as Michigan's new Governor has indicated that she is willing to sign off on legislation allowing sportsbooks and online poker sites to be based out of the state. This is likely to come to fruition some time in 2019.

Could Michigan offer online sports betting from in-state by the next Super Bowl?  No need to wait around when there are online sportsbooks accessible to those in Michigan the likes of Americas Bookie that have been in business since 1997 and pay out within hours using certain methods.  Credit cards accepted.
