Jason Somerville, one of the few openly gay poker pros, has announced he is leaving his role as PokerStars ambassador to pursue professional sports betting.  He is the latest of a series of big name pros to part ways with the site.  Daniel Negreanu, Liv Boeree and Igor Kurganov all announced their departures this fall.  It's unclear whether news of this nature has contributed to the surge in searches for "Is PokerStars Safe?".

CalvinAyre.com writes:

Somerville’s Twitch legacy is not so much about purely how far his own content has reached, commanding as he did almost a quarter of a million subscribers by the end of his time broadcasting his poker channel. It is more about the reach that Twitch now has for poker players, and how important a player’s social reach is to their potential chances of sponsorship.

Times as a sponsored pro have changed, and Jason Somerville’s Twitch channel has made positive changes to the industry.
