McAfee Broke, Spent Millions on Whacky Compounds

John McAfee, the software creator indicted on cryptocurrency fraud charges, was allegedly broke before his death,  His former autobiographer disclosed this revelation to the Daily Mail.

Mark Eglinton, a writer who collaborated with McAfee, claims he spent millions on "bizarre" mansions in locations such as Belize, Colorado, Hawaii, Tennessee, and Texas. 

McAfee was discovered dead in a Spanish prison from an apparent suicide while awaiting extradition to the US.

"I don't doubt that if he could have helped he would have," Eglinton said, according to the Mail. "He said, 'I can't do it, my financial situation is worse than yours."'

Eglinton added: "He had his money in very safe investments, but he built houses, absolutely bizarre properties. Some of them, he never slept a night in the property."

The US Government claimed that McAfee allegedly hid cryptocurrency, a yacht, real estate and other properties in nominee names to evade taxes.
