In an order issued by the High Court in New Zealand this week, assets of a big-time methamphetamine dealer and high-stakes poker player who registered his name under "John Doe" have been seized.

Shane Tamihana attempted to cover up his true identity in an effort to prevent the seizure.  He also had a house in Flaxmere, Hastings, in the name of a long-term gambling buddy taken.

Funds in the amount of $90,000 were seized based on Tamihana's criminal activities, under the Criminal Proceeds Recovery Act.

A jailed poker champ once regarded as Hawke’s Bay’s biggest methamphetamine dealer, according to reports.

When Tamihana was sentenced in June 2018 Judge Geoff Rea said he was “the most comprehensive methamphetamine dealer Hawke’s Bay has ever seen and [the offending] puts you up there on a national scale over the last 10 years as well”.

Tamihana won the NZ$ 1,550 + 100 No Limit Hold'em - Main Event in 2016.
