Parx Casino Near Philadelphia to Open Sports Book

Pennsylvania is set to get its first sports book, and only a mere 20 miles outside of Philadelphia.  That's right, Philadelphia sports fans will be able to wager on the Eagles winning two consecutive Super Bowl championships from the Parx Casino.

Up until recently, those in the region could only bet sports online with internationally-licensed wagering firms.  They probably will continue to do so as it is not immediately clear whether online gambling will be offered throughout the Keystone State or if there is going to be extensive options such as LIVE IN-PLAY WAGERING.

PA casinos will also be paying a $10 million licensing fee along with a signficant tax.  This is going to be passed down to the consumer/gambler.  As a result, it can be surmised that the state sports book offerings will not be as attractive as those provided by internationally-based companies.

Parx will be partnering with GAN, a major British-based supplier of enterprise-level B2B Internet gaming software.  GAN has a strategic partnership deal with sports betting provider SBTECH.

Parx Casino is located in Bensalem, a suburb of Philadelphia.  The region is among the state's most populous.

The casino hopes to have its sports book up and running some time this football season as they await word on final provisions and any news of a reduction in the licensing/tax structure.
