The latest hearing of the Wright v McCormack case took place this week, with the surprise return of Peter McCormack’s legal team for the pre-trial hearing.

Wright v McCormack involves plaintiff Dr. Craigh Wright, an Australian computer scientist and businessman. He has publicly claimed to be the main part of the team that created bitcoin, a digital currency that has seen its price hit a record high of $52665 in recent days.

Wright claims defamation by McCormack via social media channels.

Lawyers for Dr. Wright were hoping to resolve the case in a November hearing after it was determined that McCormack would no longer be defending the lawsuit, however, a discrepancy between the initial claim form and subsequent filings meant that the request had to be delayed until this week.

Lawyers for McCormack have sought the High Court’s permission to re-amend his defense to the lawsuit.

McCormack claimed this past December to be broke.   He was ordered to pay Wright's legal fees in the amount of £18,500.

McCormack himself claims that Wright has submitted plenty of evidence in the lawsuit proving that he is indeed Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin's founder.
