Illinois Extends Remote Registration for Sports Betting Through March Madness

Those looking to bet sports in the state of Illinois can still register remotely through March Madness (or the first week in April).

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Governor Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker had temporarily lifted the requirement to register on-site and that was continuing into the early part of 2021.  This allowed those in the state to register their betting accounts online or via their mobile devices.

Executive Order 2020-41 will now be set to expire on April 3, which is the weekend of the NCAA Tournament Final Four.

The current law requires in-person registration for 18 months after the first bet was placed, though there is a possibility that this requirement could be abolished permanently.
