Ted Leonsis sees a future in which his downtown sports arena will open in the morning and attract crowds during lunch hour, happy hour and into the night. The allure: legalized sports betting.

Leonsis is the owner of the NBA fanchise Washington Wizards and National Hockey League Capitals .

"The gamification of all sporting events is a very positive thing," he says.

"It will take an industry in an unregulated untaxed dark space and bring it into the light."

Leonsis notes that he believes sports betting is more a game of skill compared to a game of chance like slots and video poker.
