LAS VEGAS, Nevada - (Gambling911.com) - We are hearing for the first time from the owner of a rental property where poker pro Jared Griener says he was robbed of all his World Series of Poker winnings back in July.
Griener claimed at the time he was tackled to the ground immediately upon entering the rental home, tied up and the backpack containing his World Series of Poker winnings was taken from him. He eventually escaped and fled to his neighbor’s residence to call 911.
From May 26 through July 2, Griener cashed out in four WSOP events for a total of $78,000. Much of that money he claimed was taken from the assailants.
“These people knew the door code to my Airbnb, they were waiting for me inside, and video surveillance from neighbors showed they arrived at the Airbnb 10 minutes before me,” Griener wrote on his X feed back in July.
“Luckily, I am physically unharmed. This was the most terrifying and traumatic experience of my life. All my $ is gone,” Griener added.
“Just want to say thanks to my friends and colleagues who have reached out here and privately to show support to me, it means a lot. Apart from the loss of my $, I am so traumatized and hurt rn. But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. I’ll be back, you can fkn count on it!” he added.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirmed officers responded to the neighborhood around 8:40 p.m. July 12 for a reported robbery. On Tuesday, the department released several photos of the suspects and asked for the public's assistance in identifying the men.
An incident report obtained by News 3 states Griener told investigators the suspects placed dishes on his back and warned him “not to move and that they were going to continue to ransack the house.”
Malee Simpson owns the home on the 1400 block of Lucia Drive where Griener was staying and claims to have been robbed.
"It's a mystery how they got into the house because there was no forced entry," Simpson said. "So they would have had to have someone either let them in, or they would have used the door code themselves."
Simpson spoke exclusively with News 3 and said Griener rented the home for about six weeks and shared it with two roommates.
“He was quiet,” Simpson said. “We didn't communicate too much with him.”
The World Series of Poker presents a lucrative opportunity of rental home operators during the period May 26–July 25.
For ordinary Las Vegas vacation rentals, current market data puts the average daily rate around $227–$233, while June/July vacation-rental averages from broader booking data are roughly $300–$330/night. But WSOP players staying for weeks tend to negotiate or select monthly rentals rather than pay the nightly tourist rate.
A 2026 WSOP accommodation guide specifically puts four-to-eight-week Airbnb apartments east of the Strip at roughly $2,500–$6,000 per month.
After Griener notified her about what happened, Simpson said she reviewed surveillance footage from his stay and found roughly 10 people had come and gone from the property over the six weeks. Simpson said some people other than the three renters also used the home's door code.
"So they were, you know, given access to the property without the three individuals that had rented the place," Simpson said.
She said her camera did not capture the suspects entering the home on the night of the robbery, only when they exited.
“So we don't know if they entered through the backyard, the side yard, because there was no camera footage showing them entering the house, even that night,” Simpson said. “They could’ve gone through the garage even.”

News 3 also previously obtained neighborhood surveillance video that appeared to show two men arriving in a vehicle before the robbery, parking around the corner and walking toward the area of the rental. The video showed them returning to the vehicle about 20 minutes later. Police describe that vehicle as a dark gray SUV.
One suspect is described as a heavyset Black man with braids. He was wearing a black shirt, black shorts and white shoes with black soles at the time. Police say he has distinctive tattoos on his left forearm.
The other suspect is a Black man who was wearing a gray hoodie, red shorts and black shoes.
