Consensus Cappers Liking Arizona in Game vs. Phillies

(May 22, 2023) - Arizona is all the rage this day with their +190 price.

Zack Wheeler wasn't at his best in a losing effort against the Giants on Tuesday night, giving up four runs on nine hits.  He hasn't had a win in his last three starts.  Wheeler is 3-3 with a 4.06 ERA starting for a team that has posted a lackluster 24-26 record thus far.  The Diamondbacks are just 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Philadelphia.

He has held up well against the Diamondbacks batters,  allowing just 14 hits and 2 home runs in 60.  Ketel Marte and Christian Walker have been solid against him, however.

Tommy Henry for Arizona also hasn't had a win in three starts. 

Henry struggled in a no-decision against the Athletics on Tuesday, surrendering four runs on six hits across his 4 2/3 innings.  But he did pitch into the seventh inning on Thursday, allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks against the Giants. 

The last four in this series have been extremely lopsided with one side scoring well into the double digits.

We are certainly not feeling this one.

Diamondbacks-Marlins Series

(April 13, 2023) - The Diamondbacks are off to a hot start in 2023.  Ahead of this series, Arizona owned an 8-5 record.  Keep in mind, AZ had the 8th longest odds to win the World Series, promising a payout of $12,500 on a $100 bet.

Arizona is 7-3 in the last ten games of this series.  Those Miami wins were each on the road.

The Diamondbacks are 1-8 in their last 9 during game 1 of a series.

The Marlins are 1-7 in their last 8 vs. National League West and 10-25 in their last 35 games following a win.

Madison Bumgarner comes into Friday's game with a 7.25 ERA but over his career the Marlins batters have just hit 22 of 118 at bats.  Jacob Stallings is 3 of 7 off of Bumgarner but just .118 on the season thus far. Luis Arraez will likely be dangerous here as he is averaging .500 so far this season and has hit 2 of 3 off of Bumgarner.

On Sunday, Zac Gallen starts for Arizona.  He's 1-1 with a 4.58 ERA but has allowed a mere 6 hits in 45 at bats versus the Marlins.  There's been one home run and three RBIs.  Nearly all of the damage has been done by Jean Segura (3 of 6 with the lone home run) and he's just .183 this season.
