PITCHING MATCHUP: Pirates LH Jeff Locke (1-2, 4.68 ERA) vs. Cubs RH Jake Arrieta (6-0, 1.13)

Jake Arrieta has not permitted more than three earned runs over his last 27 starts, winning 17 straight decisions dating back to July 25 of last year.  He suffered his first no-decision of the season his last start against the Nats.  

Jeff Locke has posted three quality starts since betting battered by the Padres for 8 runs on April 20.   Locke has not fared well versus the Cubs.  He currently holds a 1-2 record with a 5.83 ERA in nine starts against them.

The Cubs are 4-0 against the Pirates this season and 14-2 against National League Central opponents. 

The Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen has been on fire of late.  He went 3-for-5 with a homer in Friday’s 9-4 loss.  He is 12-for-30 with two home runs over his last seven games.

The UNDER is 6-1-1 in Arrieta’s last 8 starts vs. the Pirates and is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Chicago but Locke provides opposite total trending with the OVER going 4-0-1 in his last 5 starts versus the Cubs.  The OVER is also 4-0 in the last four meetings.
