Northern Iowa vs. UNLV Betting Odds

Northern Iowa vs. UNLV betting odds had Northern Iowa getting around 80 percent of the public backing as the +1 underdog at SBG Global heading into Thursday.  Northern Iowa was ranking around the 5th/6th most bet on team in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Men's College Basketball Tournament at most online sportsbooks Wednesday evening.

From Fox Sports:

Northern Iowa's first job is to defend UNLV guard Tre'Von Willis, who averages 17.5 points and 3.4 assists per game. Both teams are strong defensively and careful with the basketball. UNLV allows 63.9 points a game and leads the Mountain West Conference in defensive shooting percentage at 39.8 percent. The Rebels also lead the MWC in turnover margin (plus-4.09) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4). The Panthers will own a height advantage with 7-foot center Jordan Eglseder. UNLV might need to go to its bench to match up with him.

For the fifth time in the past seven years, Northern Iowa (28-4) is in the field.

With our basketball team, there isn't a lot of that," Northern Iowa coach Ben Jacobson said Wednesday. "We try to be very consistent. We try to defend at a high level and rebound the basketball and take advantage of what opportunities present themselves at the offensive end.

"I think our consistency has probably been our biggest strength and that's something that just doesn't really jump out at you."

In regard to UNLV, The Rebels have speed and quickness, typically playing 11 players, making them a very deep team.
