"This gives us a real chance to do some damage in the West,'' said Donnie Nelson, the Mavericks' president of basketball betting operations, "It's like a nuclear arms race out here. From top to bottom, there's 11 that look like they're viable and eight that are going to make it. But we feel [the trade] gives us a real chance to take this next step."

The Suns may be making changes as well as Amare Stoudemire has been mentioned in trade rumors and with the trading deadline on Thursday, it could be he is moved. "You know, we'll find out," head coach Alvin Gentry said, "Regardless of what happens, we've got to move forward. If Amar'e is here, that would be great. The guy has played great basketball for us."
