Judge Beth Bloom has granted a request by Ira Kleiman’s attorneys to add pre-judgment interest to the $100 million awarded to W&K in last year’s Kleiman v Wright lawsuit.  Wright's attorneys had not objected to the addition of prejudgment interest.

The order, granted Wednesday, adds $43,132.492.48 in interest accruing over a period of over eight years beginning in 2014, bringing the total award from the Kleiman lawsuit to more than $140 million.

A Miami jury found in favor of Kleiman on only one out of seven counts late last year.  Kleiman had asserted that his late brother David Kleiman assisted Dr. Craig Wright in creating Bitcoin.  He did not.

The count that favored Kleiman related to the conversion of $100 million worth of intellectual property—except the jury found that the conversion only took place in respect of W&K, a company whose ownership status is uncertain.

The dispute was over the date from which the interest should start accruing. Kleiman’s lawyers were arguing that the interest should begin counting from the date that the conversion took place.

Wright is now a proponent of the Bitcoin SV blockchain, one he claims adheres to his original vision, that which is fast, Scalable, Disruptive, Environmentally-efficient and Regulation-friendly.
