Just because the state of Nevada has an overabundance of gambling-related jobs hasn’t translated into lower employment.  The unemployment rate in that state reached a record high this month:  14.4 percent.

There may be a glimmer of good news.  Season employment resulted in a decrease from 14.7 percent from 14.8 percent in August for Clark County.

And while economists are claiming the recession is over.  Las Vegas registered an unemployment rate of 13 percent, the same number as last year at this time.

Nevada has the honor of bumping Michigan out of the top unemployment percentage back in May.  The national unemployment rate was 9.6 percent in August.

Some 200,000 people in the state, including 142,000 in Las Vegas alone, were out of work and looking, according to figures.
