The 50-year-old suffers from diabetic neuropathy, which causes loss of sensation in the feet.  Thompson said he didn't realize how bad a sun burn he had gotten back in 2012.   Before assuming this is simply a case of failing to apply proper sunscreen and laying out for too long a period, a building consultant Thompson hired to help his legal case concluded that the pavers were so hot — 137 deg F according to tests run by consultant Mark Meshulam, that Thompson’s foot was literally cooked.
