Coming into Week 6 of the 2010 NFL season the New York Jets were -160 favorites to win the AFC East ahead of the New England Patriots, who had odds of +140, paying out $140 for every $100 bet.

At the conclusion of Week 6, the Jets were 5-1 and the Patriots 4-1, having won their respective games on Sunday.

Neither were an easy victory.  The Patriots had to beat Baltimore at home in overtime while the Jets win came during the final seconds of regulation thanks to a pass interference call.

"Good thing the ref was right there to make that call," Jets receiver Santonio Holmes said following the game.

If not the Jets might be 4-2 and the Patriots favored to win the AFC East.

Come Tuesday, with the updated odds, we could see New York slashed a bit and New England closer to even.

Of course the Patriots managed to avoid going 3-2 on the season after Stephen Gostkowski's game-winning 35-yard field goal was his first career overtime field goal attempt. The Patriots have now won four straight home overtime games dating back to 2001.

Delon Branch's nine catches matched Randy Moss' total in his four games with New England this season.

"Not perfect, but he did a lot of good, like he always did," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "He got open and caught some balls. Let's not make it too complicated."

In looking at the AFC East odds we can’t overlook the Miami Dolphins, who are now 3-2 after a win on the road in hostile Green Bay.  Their payout odds coming into Week 6 were set at +465 or $465 paid out on a $100 bet if they were to win the AFC East. – Ean Lamb, Gambling911.com
