Cowboys vs. Cardinals Line

The oddsmakers overestimated a response to the initial Cowboys vs. Cardinals line, which opened at -6 in favor of Dallas.  The line has since moved down to -4.5

The Dallas Cowboys hope to hold onto their slim lead in the NFC East as they head to Arizona to play the Cardinals this week. Dallas opened up as 6 point road favorites but with news coming from Arizona that QB Kevin Kolb should return to action, the line has moved in the Cardinals favor.

Dallas comes into this contest on a roll as they have won four straight games to take over 1st place in the NFC East. The Cowboys have really taken advantage of a soft spot in their schedule to string together these wins and with the emergence of rookie RB DeMarco Murray (832 rushing yards); Dallas has a balanced attack that concerns defensive coordinators across the league. But this game is actually a tough scheduling spot for the Cowboys because they are in the dreaded "look-ahead" spot. The Cowboys host the New York Giants next week in a game that could go a long way in deciding the NFC East champion given that the Giants are the team Dallas currently has a 1-game lead over. Dallas has played sub-.500 teams for the past six weeks and Arizona will be their seventh in a row, so complacency could easily set in on the Dallas sideline. They are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games as a favorite and 5-13 ATS in December the past few seasons. QB Tony Romo's late season struggles have been well documented over his career and now that the calendar has changed to December, Dallas fans may be concerned.

On the other side, Arizona is happy to have QB Kevin Kolb in the mix as he should be able to kick-start this offense and get them producing consistently again. He spent his career in Philadelphia before this season so there is quite a lot of familiarity for him in preparing to play Dallas and that information could go a long way for the Cardinals this week. RB Beanie Wells is coming off a career-best game last week as he rushed for 224 yards and a touchdown and he hopes to have similar success this week vs. Dallas. The Cardinals are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games as a home underdog of 3 to 10 points and will be happy to be back at home after three straight road games.

Look for the Cardinals to put on a show in front of their home crowd and take advantage of a Dallas team that may have their focus elsewhere as next week's game vs. the Giants looms large.

Take the points with Arizona in this contest, Belmont Sports analysts say.
