New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins Odds
New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins odds had 4 different numbers applied and this game promises to be among the most unstable (not to mention heavily bet on). It's a Monday Night game as well. Odds ranged from a pick to New York Jets -2 at Sportsbetting.com. No doubt the books were trying to get action on Miami since over 95 percent of the early wagering was on the Jets with both the spread and the money line.
The line opened at Jets -1. There was a possibility the line could move to -2 ½ before all is said and done.
Through three games, the Jets' rookie quarterback was riding high and garnering accolades from across the league. Against the Saints, however, Sanchez looked like a rookie for the first time. Miami will be looking to rattle Sanchez early again and his resolve will be tested.
New Orleans limited Jets rookie Mark Sanchez in the second half to just 5-of-13 passing with two interceptions.
Miami, meanwhile, looked like a much better team last week, beating Buffalo at home and earning the Dolphins their first win of the season. The Dolphins will look to get back on track with a 2-3 record.
The Dolphins held the Bills to just 46 rush yards and have held opponents to fewer than 100 rush yards in every game this season.
The Dolphins were minus-6 in turnover margin over their first three games this year but finished plus-3 against Buffalo.
With quarterback Chad Henne making his first NFL start, the Dolphins mounted scoring drives of 65, 66 and 65 yards. They were 11-for-19 on third- and fourth-down conversions -- a category in which they already led the league.
"That's what we want to do -- pound the ball and wear guys down," tackle Jake Long said. "It starts up front, and our running backs were relentless and bulling through people."
Wildcat success helped Henne. The Dolphins used the formation nine times for 58 yards, including a 38-yard run by Ronnie Brown, their longest gain this season. Brown ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and Ricky Williams added 85 and one score.
"Those 30- and 40-yard runs add up quickly," Bills defensive end Ryan Denney said.
The Jets/Dolphins have a rich head-to-head history as division rivals, much of it lopsided favoring the Jets. While Miami won the last game in this series, the Jets had won 4 previous and 8 of the last 10. They have won by more than the current spread each time. 3 of the wins were by a field goal. Last year's Miami win against the Jets was during the final week of the season after New York had already self-imploded.
