NFL Predictions: Seattle Seahawks vs. Chicago Bears

The surprising 7-9 Seattle Seahawks are back to fight another day – this time against the Chicago Bears. Lets get to some NFL predictions to see if Chicago can cover as 10 point favorites against this scrappy NFC West underdogs.

Sunday, January 16 @ 1pm EST

NFL Odds: Seattle Seahawks (+10) vs. Chicago Bears (-10)

Game Total: 41.5

Seattle is only 2-6 away from home this season, but one of those wins came early in the 2010 season against this same Bears team. Can they do it again against Jay Cutler and the 11-win Bears?

The upstart Seattle Seahawks aren’t ready for their miracle playoffrun to end yet.  They battle a Chicago Bears team that still has critics despite earning the No. 2 seed in the NFC.

Fox will broadcast Sunday at 1 pm ET from the Windy City.

This is a rematch of an Oct. 17 game in Chicago that Seattle won 23-20 in an upset. Jay Cutler got sacked six times and was only 17-of-39 passing, although he did throw for 290 yards. Seattle’s Matt Hasselbeck was 25-of-40 for 242 yards and they won the rushing battle (111-61).

Chicago (11-5) got the NFC North title and a first round bye. They went 7-1 down the stretch if you exclude the final week, meaningless game against the Packers.

Quarterback Jay Cutler lowered his interceptions from 26 last year to 16 this year. However, he’s capable of an outstanding game or a real stinker. That scares all Bears fans and makes the national pundits question how far they can advance.

Getting the running going on Sundaysurely would help. Running back Matt Forte had 1,069 rushing yards with 668 coming in the second half.

The Bears defense allowed just 17.9 PPG this year (ranked fourth). However, they surrendered 32 PPG in their last three home games against Philadelphia, New England and the NY Jets. A much better effort is needed here.

Seattle (8-9) pulled off a great 41-36 win last week over defending champion New Orleans. The Seahawks played loose as a big home ‘dog, and certainly playing at Quest Field with the ‘12th man’ played a big part.

The Seahawks now go on the road where they’re 1-6 excluding that Chicago win. It would be surprising for Marshawn Lynch and the running game to have success, which puts all the pressure on Hasselbeck.

Every one of Seattle’s nine losses this year were by 15 points or more. I think that trend ends this week with a tough game that Chicago wins by 4-7 points. That does, however, mean a cover. So take the NFL predictionfor a Chicago win, but a Seahawks ATS victory.
