Price Per Head NFL Betting - Peyton vs. the Super Bowl Champs, Great Season Star

The NFL is here. And as far as many Price Per Head NFL bettors are concerned, the pro football season couldn't possibly get off to a better start.

On Thursday night, Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos, who are priced at +400 to win the Super Bowl and the NFL betting favorites at +190 to win the AFC for those customers who use WagerHome.com's software as their source, will play host to the defending Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens, listed at +2000 to defend their crown.

Baltimore's defense will have something of a new look, as it will be missing two stalwarts who are headed to the Hall of Fame. Ray Lewis retired after the Super Bowl victory, while Ed Reed moved on to the Houston Texans as a free agent. Denver's offense will look a little different too, as Wes Welker, who has caught at least 100 passes in five of the last six seasons, will be teaming up with Manning out of the slot.

There are quite a few other attractive matchups on the schedule for NFL PPH bettors to wager on. The New Orleans Saints, who have brought back coach Sean Payton after a year's suspension, are three-point favorites at home against the Atlanta Falcons, who were able to cajole tight end Tony Gonzalez into sticking around for another season; Darrelle Rivas will probably start for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they are three-point favorites visiting the New York Jets; the Kansas City Chiefs, with Alex Smith now at quarterback, will be 3.5-point favorites at WagerHome.com as they visit the Jacksonville Jaguars; The Chicago Bears, with new coach Marc Trestman, are favored by a field goal against the visiting Cincinnati Bengals.

In other games that will be available for Price Per Head bettors, the Cleveland Browns, with a new head coach (Rob Chudzinski) and a "downfield" mindset, are favored by a point over the Miami Dolphins; The Seattle Seahawks are favored by 3.5 points over the Carolina Panthers, who may be able to make a move in the crowded NFC South if they can improve the defense; The Detroit Lions are 4.5-point favorites as they host the Minnesota Vikings, and perhaps fans can join us at http://www.twitter.com/wagerhome and discuss whether Adrian Peterson can reach the 2500 yards he's aiming for (he's the +200 favorite at WagerHome.com to win the NFL rushing title).

Also, the Indianapolis Colts will start trying to prove that their 2012 playoff berth with rookie Andrew Luck was no fluke, as they lay 9.5 points at Lucas Oil Stadium against the Oakland Raiders; the St. Louis Rams will lay 4.5 points at home against the Arizona Cardinals, who go with Carson Palmer, who was Oakland's quarterback last year. The Dallas Cowboys will finally try to beat the New York Giants at their home field, now called AT&T Stadium, as they lay three points when they meet up on Sunday night.

But the most intriguing matchup for Week 1 for Price Per Head NFL bettors may be in a Sunday afternoon game at Candlestick Park, as the San Francisco 49ers, who are listed as the +350 favorites to win the Super Bowl at WagerHome, lay 4.5 points to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. In last year's season opener, the Niners were fundamentally almost perfect as they won 30-22. Then, in the playoffs, Colin Kaepernick, who was not San Francisco's quarterback in that first game, rambled for 181 yards on the ground, setting an NFL record for QB's in one game, leading the Niners to a 45-31 win.

On Monday night there is a doubleheader for sportsbook software end users. First, the Washington Redskins, who are expected to start Robert Griffin III after his knee surgery, will be a 3.5-point favorite over the Philadelphia Eagles, who will be debuting the go-go offense of first-year coach Chip Kelly. In the nightcap, PPH customers of WagerHome.com get to see the Houston Texans, who have added Ed Reed to the talented cast of defenders who work under coordinator Wade Phillips, lay 3.5 points at San Diego against the Chargers, who will experience their first game under new coach Mike McCoy and hope to get something more out of quarterback Philip Rivers.

That's quite a lineup, and you can talk about it with us at http://www.twitter.com/wagerhome.
