How About a Temporary Casino at Meadowlands for Super Bowl

Despite New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s assertions that he will not support any casinos within the state outside of Atlantic City, a proposal was tossed around Wednesday suggesting a “temporary casino” at the Meadowlands for the Super Bowl in 2015.

Some are calling it a “pop up” casino.

Center Stage Casino in Alabama Raided

(Associated Press) - State and local law enforcement have raided Center Stage casino near Dothan and seized several hundred machines.

State Attorney General Luther Strange announced that his office worked with the Houston County sheriff and district attorney to serve a search warrant Wednesday morning that resulted from an ongoing investigation of illegal gambling.

It claims to be the biggest poker tournament in the world consisting of 30,000 players, a prizepool of 20 m€ and is broadcasted on the Television in more than 28 countries.

The name behind the venture is one many online poker players – especially those screwed out of their funds by Full Tilt Poker – might be familiar with.  That would be Bernard Tapie and his son, Laurent.

June Gambling Revenue Flat in Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss. (Associated Press) - Mississippi's casino revenues were basically flat in June, as a recovery at gambling halls along the Mississippi River barely made up for losses on the Gulf Coast.

Overall revenue rose less than 1 percent from June 2011, to $186.9 million, according to Mississippi Department of Revenue figures released Tuesday. Statewide revenue was basically flat with May, down less than $150,000.

In June, the 12 coastal casinos won a total of $89.9 million from gamblers, down 4.3 percent from the $94 million that they won in June 2011.

Feds Say Georgia Casino Boat Allowed Illegal Gambling

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- (Associated Press) - Federal prosecutors say the owners of a Savannah-based casino boat owe the government nearly $7 million earned from illegal gambling in state waters off Georgia and South Carolina.

An indictment unsealed Monday in U.S. District Court charges the general manager of Diamond Casino and two of his boat captains with operating an illegal gambling business. Prosecutors say Diamond Casino's cruise boat routinely allowed gambling in state waters between July 2010 and last November.

Absolute Poker Exec Brent Beckley Gets 14 Month Prison Sentence

NEW YORK (Reuters) - An owner of Absolute Poker, one of the three largest Internet poker companies, was sentenced to 14 months in prison on Monday after admitting to deceiving banks over the processing of gambling proceeds.

Brent Beckley, 32, joined Costa Rica-based Absolute Poker in 2003 and became its head of payment processing. Last December, he pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to conspiring to break U.S. laws against gambling on the Internet. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and wire fraud.

Maine Newest Casino’s Future in Doubt following Development Permit Nullification

PORTLAND, Maine (Associated Press) - The immediate future of Maine's newest casino is in doubt.

Department of Environmental Protection officials and the Attorney General's Office were meeting Monday and discussing what course of action to take after a judge nullified a development permit for the Oxford Casino less than two months after the casino opened in the western Maine town of Oxford.

Revenues Way Up at 32Red: Will Enter Italy Market

Shares at 32Red have risen 3.3 percent, valuing the company at £30 million following an upbeat forecast of full year revenues.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie: Meadowlands Casino Talk a ‘Waste of Time’

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (Associated Pres) While New Jersey lawmakers heard pros and cons Thursday on the prospect of casino gambling at the Meadowlands, Gov. Chris Christie, who opposes the idea, called the discussion futile.

"I think any conversation about extending gaming to the northern part of the state or any place else in the state is a waste of time," Christie said at an unrelated bill-signing in Trenton. "As a practical political matter, it's not going to happen."

South Carolina Man Arrested for Killing Wife, Gambling Associate

Columbia, S.C. – (Associated Press) - Investigators say they have charged a man with killing his wife and his colleague in a gambling business in his upscale suburban Columbia home.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said 42-year-old Brett Parker turned himself in Friday after two murder charges were filed more than three months after the killings.

Lott says Parker shot his 44-year-old wife, Tammy, then picked up another gun and shot 46-year-old Brian Capnerhurst on April 13. Arrest warrants say Parker then tried to make it look like he was being robbed.

Poker Pro Michael MIzrachi Accuses Giorgio Medici of Welching on WSOP Side Bet

Poker pro Michael Mizrachi has accused fellow player Giorgio Medici of refusing to pay on a World Series of Poker bracelet bet. 

Mizrachi posted a series of Twitter messages claiming that Medici has said he is now filing for bankruptcy and is unable to pay the said side bet.

He also noted that Medici has allegedly behaved in such a matter in the past.
