7 Major US Online Gambling Sites Shut Down Completely: Includes English Harbour
One of the oldest established online gambling sites, the casino group English Harbour, has shut down along with 6 other online casino brands
The death of online gambling sites continues. Among the group of casinos to delete their websites and close their gambling doors are English Harbour, Millionaire Casino, VIP Slots, Slots Galore, Silver Dollar Casino, Super Slots and Caribbean Gold Casinos.
Over the weekend the casinos began displaying a closure notice announcing to players that they should cash-out their funds or play out the money in their account. Gamblers are going to be given until August 1, 2011 to do so.
What lies in store for the websites and platforms is actually pretty sad. After over a decade of running, and being branded as top performers in the gaming industry by Affiliate Guard Dog, GPWA, and CAP the “Casino Coins” group will be nothing but ashes. The websites will show a 404 error page after August 1st we are told. No player accounts will be transferred to other competing gambling sites and domains won’t be sold.
The reason behind the demise of these online betting sites is due to the legal situation in the United States. After multiple indictments the owners have simply had enough, with a close scare after one of the indicted payment processors was nabbed in Guatemala. In essence, they are getting out while they still can as it doesn’t seem the US Government is going to slow down their assault on betting operators.
The owners of these websites grew from obscurity after the 2006 UIGEA taking on masses of high roller casino players from the US. After years of accumulated wealth the operations became more and more risky with payment processors and websites being seized along with bank accounts assets frozen. This closure is related to the VIP.com, Nine.com etc closure reported earlier this week.
This group will be sorely missed as having met the people behind these operations was nothing but pleasurable. It’s unfortunate such a reputable group of online casinos have to go down this way, but fortunately they are going out on their own terms…in a twisted way.
