Chavit Singson the ‘Gangster Governor’ Linked to Gustafsson Gang
In another Gambling911.com World Exclusive and part of an ongoing special investigation, we can now reveal that our sources on the ground in Manila have been able to uncover several links between the so-called “Gangster Governor” Chavit Singson and the former Bodog employees recently indicted in the Philippines for Qualified Theft and the latest charge of Car Napping/Conspiracy. View the most recent indictment here.
Gambling911.com discovered several images of the various characters recently indicted in the Car Napping/Conspiracy case hanging out with Mr. Chavit. All of the images were posted September 1st on Facebook.
So just what is the significance of this date?
Our source on the ground reveals: “Allegedly the gang attempted to empty out a corporate bank account rumored to hold a balance of approximately $3 million dollars on September 2nd sans Singson. After an alert bank teller refused the fraudulent documents being provided to justify the authorization of the withdraw, the group stormed out of the bank.”
However, it is alleged that the gang attempted to commit the heist the following day on September 3rd but this time Sylvia De Guzman decided to threaten to cut out the tongue of the bank employee!
It gets even worse, apparently Sylvia De Guzman indicated that she is affiliated with Chavit Singson.
Who cares right?
“Well if you are a Filipino bank teller you are scared as hell,” our source says. “Singson has a reputation amongst the working class as a tough guy, willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He is the Filipino version of Don Corleone. The threat of unleashing the wraith of Singson was enough to get this bank employee to fill out this police report out of fear of being killed and it clearly mentions the former Governor along with several others.” View the official police blotter filed by the bank employee here.
Singson had quite the reputation back in the day and, in many respects, it still lives on.
Singson says, over a two year period (1998 and 1999), he personally delivered millions in illegal gambling money to then President Joseph Estrada inside the Presidential Palace.
"When I entered, there would be no inspection. Everyone would look at me - it was so shameful but I would walk past all of them straight to his office and then he follows me .. I show him, he counts it by the bundle - five bundles, five million pesos every fifteen days or a total of ten million (US$200,000) every month."
If Singson was late, he confides, the President would call him and tell him to hurry up.
Singson claims to have survived several attempts on his life, once being caught in a grenade attack while at a dance.
“Eleven people were killed, but not me - luckily I was dancing with a fat woman at the time and she took all the shrapnel."
Gambling911.com has been told that videos of the bank incident were captured on Closed Circuit TV installed throughout the branch for security purposes and the tapes have already been viewed by prosecutors overseeing the case.
Luckily for this bank employee, Chavit did not come back and whack him. Apparently the Gangster Governor was too busy shooting endangered species to be bothered to back up Sylvia De Guzman's threats. Singson is currently getting a ton of flack from a wildlife protection group in the Philippines for killing harmless ducks. In an April 2013 interview with the Inquirer, Chavit mentioned that he took up hunting to "retain his vitality" and actually traveled to "Sweden" to hunt animals. Hunting in Sweden? Perhaps he is up there bumping off Santa’s reindeer.
CalvinAyre.com broke the news of the Car Napping indictment earlier Thursday (November 7, 2013) and mentioned that the gang allegedly attempted to steal a piece of land valued at $4.6 million dollars.
G911 has been told there will be several more charges rolling out against the Gustafsson Gang over the next several weeks and months as the audits continue to diligently uncover various scams and thefts.
"We have tons of additional charges lined up, but we do not turn them over to the prosecutors until we have linked them from start to finish. The current charges are financial crimes that are all slam dunks! There are several more that we will get to, give us some additional time,” our source from within advised.
The current Car Napping indictment names several people in the caper including former Bodog staff driver Edwin Erfe, who it is claimed stole the motorcycle, as well as a former office admin Jasmin Singh, (pictured with their new boss below)

This most recent indictment is for a $700 motorcycle but it names 17 co-conspirators including former Bodog Europe CEO Patrik Selin and a familiar name to those who have been following this unraveling story on Gambling911.com, Robert Gustafsson. Both men are Swedish Nationals and, as we mentioned above, Singson has recently taken up hunting in Sweden. Perhaps there is some type of correlation here.
The prosecutors were able to tie the bike theft back to the greater conspiracy the bungling gang was apparently trying to pull off. Property crimes are taken very serious in the Philippines and despite it only being a $700 motorcycle, everyone named on the charges faces 14 years and 8 months.
It’s not quite getting Al Capone on tax evasion charges but there is something pretty pathetic about this crew that doesn’t seem capable of shooting straight risking a decade and a half of their life being forced to do awful and inhumane things in a Philippines prison, awful and degrading things like this.
As previously reported by Gambling911.com, our sources in the Philippines have indicated that Chavit Singson claimed to have been taken by this group to the tune of $3 million.
We have also been told there is a reason that the current Car Napping/Conspiracy charge lists a John Doe and Jane Doe. Whether this John Doe turns out to be Chavit Singson remains to be seen. We will have to wait with bated breath but be assured Gambling911.com will be covering the drama going on in South East Asia for the foreseeable future.
