Doc Sports Head Morris “Doc” Moseman Passes Away

One of the legendary sports handicappers, Wisconsin-based Morris “Doc” Moseman, passed away over the weekend.  Moseman died peacefully at the University of Wisconsin Hospital with his family by his side.

From CalvinAyre.com

Started in 1971, Doc’s Sports Service was one of only a few businesses of its kind and most, if not all of those have gone. Handicapping games and selling plays is a tough business, you’re only as good as your last month or even your last week. The fact that “Doc” was able to stick around for over 40 years is a testament to not only his handicapping skills but also to who he was as a person.

Doc was one of the good guys in this industry, a few times a season he would welcome affiliate managers from various internet sportsbooks to his home, and of course to Camp Randall Stadium, where he would watch his beloved Wisconsin Badgers play.  Many a word has been said about “Doc” Moseman but rarely an ill one.

I’ve talked to a few people about Doc and there was a common thread to all of their comments, they would talk about his reputation, his honesty and trustworthiness. That and he was very sharp at picking games.

Moseman is survived by his son Wade, who in recent years has been heavily engaged in running his father’s handicapping service, helping in the transition to the Web.
