During an 11 am ET press conference held in Brooklyn, New York, Attorney General Eric Holder disclosed that 800 law enforcement officials were used to round up 127 people and that 16 indictments were handed down including illegal gambling, labor racketeering, mob hits, and arson.

They are calling it the largest organized crime bust in New York City history.  The arrests expand across the tri-state area and Rhode Island.

Law-enforcement officials said members and associates of all five New York mafia families - as well as New Jersey's DeCavalcante family - are among those being arrested, NBC New York reported.  Other families included the Gambino, Genovese, Lucchese, Bonanno and Colombo.

Holder said that some of the crimes were “truly senseless murders”.  One innocent victim was shot during a botched robbery while two individuals were shot in a bar over a spilled drink.

“An important step was taken in Disrupting La Cosa Nostra operations… Among the most dangerous criminals in our country,” Holder said during the press conference.
