Poker Dealer Accused of Sparking San Diego California Wildfire

SAN DIEGO, Cal (Gambling911.com) - Brandon Glasgo, 30, was taken into custody on Monday morning in connection with the Sorrento fire near San Diego.  He was booked on a felony charge of arson of forest land.

That fire spread rapidly through the Peñasquitos Creek area, according to the San Diego Police Department.  Many were evacuated as a result of the blaze.

138 acres had burned and the fire was under 60% containment. Firefighters stopped the fire's forward spread Sunday evening.  No injuries or significant structural damage have been reported.

Glasgo had worked as a poker dealer at the Jamul Casino Resort west of the city of San Diego from 2019 to 2020.

Police have not disclosed what they believe started the fire and have declined to comment further at this time.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.

This news is sure not to sit well with actor and celebrity poker player James Wood, whose own home was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire last year.

Extensive Criminal Record

The suspect has a lengthy criminal record and documented mental health issues, according to court records.

At one point, his father requested a domestic violence restraining order against him.

Last fall, he was charged with threatening public employees, battery, obstruction and resistance of a peace officer and causing injury to an elder or dependent adult.

Court records show he has previously been arrested for petty theft, trespassing, vandalism and placing bodily fluids on an officer while in jail.

In 2024, Glasgo pleaded guilty to resisting an officer.
