Kentucky Derby 2010: Betting Off to Brisk Start
Kentucky Derby 2010 betting officially kicked off Wednesday following the noon time post position announcements. Trafficwise, Gambling911.com reported a few thousand more unique visitors over last year and around the same number of page views and overall hits. Last year's Kentucky Derby was the busiest day ever in terms of traffic and Gambling911.com has forecasted records will be shattered this Saturday as well.
"We are right on pace with last year," acknowledged Payton O'Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website. "Competition is more fierce for readership and the economy is still in recovery mode so we anticipate numbers only slightly better than last year leading up to the Derby."
But the Kentucky Derby 2010 betting culminates with a high profile boxing match later in the evening on Saturday.
Floyd Mayweather, Jr., heavily favored at online sportsbooks like Bookmaker.com, was set to take on Sugar Shane Mosley. The fight card goes off 9 pm EST, just two hours after the Kentucky Derby has completed.
"This (fight) should solidify a record setting day," O'Brien suggested.
To date, the most traffic ever recorded at the Gambling911.com website occurred with this year's Super Bowl. Typically the Kentucky Derby sees the same traffic numbers, or in the case of last year, slightly better numbers.
