Poland appears to be the next in a long list of countries looking tighten the noose on its fledgling gambling industry.

This move follows high ranking politicians caught up in a scandal, accused of lobbying for casino owners.

The proposed law would ban slot machines taking monies from outside of the licensed land-based casinos.  Such a measure would negatively affect online casinos based outside of Poland which cater to the country's citizens.

"Politicians and governments that battle corruption in a spectacular way are doomed to failure, because it's hard to prove later that they were effective," said Grzegorz Makowski, an analyst at the Institute of Public Affairs, a Warsaw-based think tank.
