FanDuel on Wednesday announced it will no longer allow customers to make deposits to their accounts using credit cards.

The new policy goes into effect nationwide in March and applies to its sportsbook, casino, and racing products.

“Over the last few months, FanDuel has been evaluating the payment methods that we offer to customers and made the decision to remove credit cards as an option for our sportsbook, casino, and racing product in the United State. This change was made to improve our deposit experience for our customers,” a FanDuel spokesperson  told Sports Betting Dime.

FanDuel now joins DraftKings, which began prohibiting credit card deposits back in August.

FanDuel will continue to allow deposits made via debit cards and bank accounts will still be acceptable forms of account deposits.

Some US states already prohibit credit card deposits for all sports betting brands. These states include Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Vermont.

New York Assemblyman Robert C. Carroll(D-44) recently introduced A7962, a bill to prohibit credit card use for online sports betting account deposits in his state.

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat, applauded FanDuel's move.

"Last week, I asked sports betting companies about Americans getting scammed by credit card companies when placing sports bets -- to the tune of a $10 junk fee just to fund a $20 bet. Glad to see Fanduel take action to protect consumers from these junk fees, joining DraftKings. The rest of the industry should follow suit."
