Sam’s Town Hotel and Gaming Hall announced they will be closing permanently on November 9 at 10 p.m.
Sam’s Town Vice President of Corporate Communications, David Strow, said the following in a statement:
“This was not an easy decision for our Company. However, demand throughout the northwest Mississippi market has declined significantly over the past 20 years, with several of Tunica’s original casinos closing since 2014. Our decision to close Sam’s Town is a result of these market conditions and follows our best efforts to adjust the business to address lower demand.
Located just south of Memphis and a short drive from Oxford, Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall has long offered resort amenities in a beautiful, relaxing setting and includes 700 rooms.
It first opened in 1994 and quickly expanded after owner Boyd Gaming bought an adjacent property in 2002.
