X Begins Crackdown on Gambling Promotions
The social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) has begun to take action against those sites promoting gambling via badges.
Kalshi appears to have removed its affilliate badges on X as a result. The badges were primarily used as public markers for influencers and content accounts working with Kalshi under referral or revenue-sharing arrangements.
From iGaming Today:
Multiple affiliated accounts acknowledged that the designations were removed, with some suggesting profiles were under review. According to Front Office Sports, the decision to strip the badges was made by Kalshi itself, not X — though the timing leaves little doubt about the catalyst.
X’s Head of Product, Nikita Bier, publicly warned at least one account promoting Kalshi content to clearly disclose paid relationships or risk suspension.
Entain Head Lambasts Premier League over Black Market Ties
In 2026, 11 Premier League clubs have a betting company as their main shirt sponsor. Four of the 11 in Bournemouth, Fulham, Burnley and Wolves all have main shirt sponsorships with betting websites owned by TGP Europe, which has lost its British licence.
The Gambling Commission last year went as far as to warn clubs they could be ‘liable to prosecution’ should they continue promoting the company’s brands.
Stake, the shirt sponsor of Everton, and W88, lost its UK licence last year, with TGP Europe previously operating the site as part of a white-label arrangement.
UK Culture Minister Lisa Nandy said: “When placing a bet on the big match, fans deserve to know the sites they’re using are properly regulated, with the right protections in place.
“It’s not right that unlicensed gambling operators can sponsor some of our biggest football clubs, raising their profile and potentially drawing fans towards sites that don’t meet our regulatory standards.”
Entain, the parent company of Ladbrokes and BetMGM (in the US), blasted the Premier League for even allowing such sponsorships in the first place.
Entain’s chief executive officer, Stella David, criticized an upcoming game between Bournemouth and Sunderland, calling it a "Black Market Derby".
From GamblingnNews.com:
David implied that, as things stand now, the Premier League has a favorable relationship with illegal companies, which she called very concerning.
David added that Entain has already made its choice and stands on the side of sport and sport integrity. She concluded that she would welcome an opportunity to discuss the matter with the Premier League’s CEO, Richard Masters, in person.
