ESPN analyst Matt Miller is accused by the Missouri AG of failing to pay out winnings in hundreds of fantasy football leagues, collecting dues for non-existent charities under his name
The probe appears to have been launched following a Reddit thread that started May 21 and gaining momentum June 21 after Miller posted on X that he was in a serious car accident and underwent a life-saving amputation of his left arm.
Shocking news broke late Friday that Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has launched an official investigation into a popular ESPN NFL analysts Matt Miller.
He's accused of failing to pay out winnings in hundreds of fantasy football leagues, collecting dues for non-existent charities under his name, and ghosting clients after selling scouting courses for $500-$1200.
A GoFundMe campaign for Miller's medical costs following a car crash where he lost an arm was paused after raising over $50,000, with the beneficiary changed from Matt Miller to Kathy Miller.
The Reddit thread, which opened on May 21, 2026 and is titled “Matt Miller Leagues and Scam,” gained momentum online after Miller posted on X on June 21 that he was in a serious car accident and underwent a life-saving amputation of his left arm.
“Anyone in a league run by ESPN’s Matt Miller and not get paid as a winner? he has ghosted ours since the championship and provided 0 communication on what funds went to charity/providing payouts to the winners,” the initial Reddit post said. “I’ve seen a few others in the same boat and wanted to see if this is a wider spread problem than a couple leagues.”
As of this afternoon, there has been no public comment from Miller addressing the Missouri Attorney General's investigation into the fantasy football allegations.
ESPN has yet to comment either. That media outlet regularly covers news pertaining to the fantasy sports sector. Notably, ESPN's lead reporter covering the gambling and fantasy sports industry news has yet to report on this matter.
Miller has served as ESPN's NFL Draft analyst since 2021. He regularly appears on ESPN platforms including NFL Draft coverage, SportsCenter, NFL Live, and ESPN Radio.
Miller previously served as the Lead NFL Draft writer and analyst at Bleacher Report, where he built much of his national reputation dating back to 2010.
