Vegas Golden Knights Defenseman Brayden McNabb Hospitalized
Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb left Thursday's Game 2 loss in the Stanley Cup Final against the Carolina Hurricanes after taking a puck to his face in the first period.
McNabb was defending in front of Vegas goalie Carter Hart when Hurricanes forward Nikolaj Ehlers fired a shot from inside the blue line. The puck, traveling 87 mph, hit McNabb around the visor. He dropped to the ice before eventually getting to his skates, clutching his nose as he quickly left.
He was currently at the hospital undergoing further evaluation.
Coach John Tortorella said he had no update when asked about McNabb's condition after the game.
"It's a scary play," forward Brett Howden said. "You never want to see that. Just hope he's doing all right. We haven't seen him yet but hope he's doing OK."
McNabb is Vegas' top shutdown defenseman.
The line on Saturday's game had yet to be impacted as it opened and remained at Carolina -109 as of late Friday morning.
Aaron Judge Out With Stress Fracture in Rib on Right Side
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the first rib on his right side and is expected to return this season, the team announced Thursday night.
The three-time American League MVP missed three straight games as he underwent various tests this week to pinpoint the reason for discomfort that had hampered him for an extended period.
Judge will miss significant time -- the Yankees said he will be re-imaged in approximately four to six weeks to determine his level of healing and the next steps -- but the club had feared worse. The outfielder underwent an MRI, CT scan and X-rays, and was evaluated by multiple doctors, including Dr. Gregory Pearl, who specializes in thoracic outlet syndrome management in Dallas.
Needless-to-say, all futures odds featuring Judge and, to some degree the team in general, will be seriously impacted.
Chicago Storms Likely to Disrupt Giants-Cubs Game
Weather will be moving through the Chicago area Friday afternoon resulting in a likely delay of game and possibly a postponement for the Giants-Cubs, scheduled to start at 1:20 local time. The worst of the weather, including thunder and lightning, is anticipated between the 2 and 3 pm hour with clearing some time after 4 pm local time.
