The 2010 Kentucky Derby Power Rankings being offered up by BetUS.com last week already had +375 favorite Lookin At Lucky at number one before the original favorite Eskendereya was abruptly pulled from entering the Derby.

D.S. Williamson, BetUS.com Analyst:

"He's the best in my opinion. Best trainer, best jockey and best breeding. He's a half-brother to Curlin, they were both fathered by Smart Strike, and Gomez is an amazing jockey. The only thing that could possibly stand in his way is getting stuck in traffic in a huge field. This guy proved he's better on dirt than the synthetic and Baffert is going to throw his stable mate, Conveyance, into the Derby to ensure a fast pace. It's go time, baby!"

The 2010 Kentucky Derby Power Rankings from BetUS.com placed Sidney's Candy (+450 odds) at number two thanks to Eskenderaya's defection.

"Maybe, he can rate. Looking back at his past performances, he rated going 5 ½ furlongs in his first two races as a maiden. He's speed but he's controlled speed and I have to believe that his connections must feel he can lay behind the speed because his stable mate, Line of David, has only one way to go and that's to front. If you like Eskendereya, you've got to love this guy, right? They both have the same style, really, except Sidney's Candy is going off at much better odds."

The horse whose power ranking comes in at number 3 needs to be given special attention.  These power rankings did not originally take into consideration heavy rainfall and muddy track conditions that are almost a guarantee Saturday afternoon.  Of the top three ranked horses by BetUS.com, Mission Impazible is believed to be the best in mud.  Plus he's a +2000 long shot to boot with the potential to pay out $200 on every $10 bet.

"I'm beginning to favor Pletcher's second best Derby horse ahead of his first. Impazible hasn't hit his peak yet and that victory in the Louisiana Derby was ultra-professional. He could be a very nice long shot play come Derby Day."

Especially with that rain in the forecast.

Stately Victor's 2010 Kentucky Derby power ranking had him at number 5 with his odds slashed to +2500 from +3000.

Ice Box with +700 odds came in 6th ranked at BetUS.com.
