2012 Kentucky Oaks Betting Odds
While the focus will be on Saturday’s Kentucky Derby, the 2012 Kentucky Oaks betting odds were available at Sportsbook and this Friday race will get some decent action. Sportsbook.com was offering up to $250 in FREE CASH and up to 8 percent back on daily losses to qualified customers.
This year’s Kentucky Oaks, like the Derby, was a tight race with Grace Hall and On Fire Baby essentially the co-favorites.
Grace Hall was currently listed at 2/1 odds to win the Kentucky Oaks with On Fire Baby at 3/1.
Grace Hall is trained by Tony Dutrow, who is 4-2 in lifetime starts.
“She’s been extremely consistent for a horse of this generation,” said Dutrow. “She’s been solid as a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old. …
“At the moment, I’m not feeling I have something to be concerned about with the 2 post. I thought that she would be the favorite.”
BloodHorse.com offered up some solid arguments for betting On Fire Baby:
On Fire Baby has an obvious affinity for the Churchill track, over which she won last year's Pocahontas and Golden Rod Stakes. The daughter of Smoke Glacken -- Ornate, by Gilded Time has won four times and placed third once in six lifetime starts, for earnings of $312,329.
In her most recent work at Churchill April 27, the Kentucky-bred filly, who will be ridden by regular jockey Joe Johnson in the Oaks, covered seven furlongs in 1:27 flat.
