Aikenite drew the rail for Saturday's race.

There is reason to be hopeful about Aikenite's chances. The 3-year-old colt is coming off of a strong effort in the 1-mile The Cliff's Edge Derby Trial Stakes at Churchill Downs on April 24 over an off-track, where he placed second, the Aiken Standard reported.  Aikenite is also a Todd Pletcher trained entry.

He is said to be at his best when he runs off the pace.

"We're committed to taking him off the pace. We feel like that's his best running style; hopefully there will be enough pace," said Pletcher. "I talked to (Dogwood Stables president Cot) Campbell this morning, and we've felt like his best races have been when he's been off the pace and we'll try to do that."

Aikenite will be ridden by Javier Castellano.

Can't Bet on Twinspires.com From Mississippi

Despite it being among the very first states to legalize sports betting following the US Supreme Court decision to abolish decades of prohibition in 2018, Mississippi still doesn't allow mobile sports wagering....and that includes betting on the Kentucky Derby.  As such, TwinSpires.com is not available here.

Can't Bet the Kentucky Derby With Twinspires From My State

TwinSpires is available from most US states.  Those states where the app is not available mostly do not feature any of the competition either.  BetOnline is available in states where TwinSpires is not for those 18 and up with two exceptions, New Jersey and Nevada.
