Animal Kingdom Odds to Win 2011 Preakness Stakes

Animal Kingdom odds to win the 2011 Preakness Stakes were set at 3/1 or +300 at BetED.com.  These odds were available prior to the post position draw and can be locked in here(note:  accounts should be open prior to Saturday’s race in order to avoid heavy wagering volume and delays)

Animal Kingdom won the 2011 Kentucky Derby so it is certainly not surprising that he would be favored.  What is surprising is that Dialed In has odds just one point longer than that of Animal Kingdom at 4/1.   Mucho Macho Man, who finished in third place at the Derby, was listed at +450 odds (which would pay out $45 for every $10 bet or $450 on every $100 bet)

Trainer Graham Morton says he is happy with what he sees from Animal Kingdom leading up to the 2011 Preakness Stakes, a happy healthy horse.

"I'm impressed with how he handled everything," Motion said during a conference call with news reporters Thursday. "His weight is good. He's making it easy for me. I couldn't be happier."

Tim Wilkin in the Albany Times-Union noted the importance of a Triple Crown this year (odds currently at 6/1), “Horse racing needs to have Animal Kingdom win the Preakness and then head to Belmont Park with a chance to be the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978. When there is no Triple Crown on the line at the Belmont, the Long Island pony park has as much buzz as Schenectady’s Central Park has now in the summer.”
