After opening at 3/1, we have seen Animal Kingdom’s odds slowly slip to 2/1 over the last three days at BetDSI.com

Animal Kingdom won the Kentucky Derby and just fell short at the Preakness Stakes, taking 2nd place.  Had the race been just a few lengths more, many believe Animal Kingdom would be looking at a potential Triple Crown right now.

There is a tiredness component to consider along with a less-than-favorable post position.

The Belmont Stakes track is thought to resemble that of the Kentucky Derby, thus providing an edge for Animal Kingdom.

“Animal Kingdom, he's bred to go a mile-and-a-half more than Shackleford,” said Lou Cauz, managing director of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame and a former racing reporter. “I think (the distance) will be testing the pedigree of Shackleford.”

The Kentucky Derby winner may have to contend with unfavorable track conditions, however, as rain is in the forecast.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
