Dave In Dixie Belmont Stakes odds were listed at a long 18/1 at Sportsbetting.com (see website here)

He ran sixth behind Preakness winner Lookin at Lucky in the Grade 1 Norfolk at Santa Anita. His best career performance came in February when he ran a game second to Caracortado in the 1 1/16 mile Grade 2 Robert B. Lewis, also at Santa Anita.

Dave In Dixie is considered an impressive work horse considering the lack of strong lineage. He won his maiden decently in Southern California, but that was last summer. On synthetic. Sprinting. His closing second early this year in the Lewis, a route, was not bad.

Dave In Dixie has done little to suggest he is among the best horses of his generation, worthy of classic consideration. His lone start on dirt produced the worst performance of his career.
