Derby Kitten odds to win the 137th Kentucky Derby were set at 45/1 or +4500.

Marcus Hesch of the Daily Racing Form notes that Derby Kitten comes to Saturday’s Derby in his best form yet, winning the G2 Lexington Stakes on April 23 at Keeneland.

“Derby Kitten’s profile is reminiscent of Derby winner Charismatic, who, like the horse in question, ran for a claiming tag early in his 3-year-old season before winning the Lexington.”

There are concerns regarding how well Derby Kitten can run on dirt.  He was beaten close to 30 lengths last October running on his last and only dirt track.   He has also never been farther than 1 1/16-miles.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
